Video Mixing: Model 614 Series

Video Subtraction: Model 442 Series
Split Screen Mode
Split Screen Mode allows portions of each of two pictures to be displayed in a corresponding portion of a video display. This mode can split a video image, wipe or display two video images or a dual video image, one image over the other, top to bottom, or side by side, to make portions of each viewable on a single monitor.

A front panel control selects whether the screen is split horizontally or vertically. A control knob determines the proportion of the screen allocated to each source, adjustable from 0% to 100%. The user can freeze either of the inputs and either input can be viewed exclusively by push of a button.
Given Input A
and Input B
Split Vertically
Or Horizontally
Position of split is adjustable
Positions can be swapped

Squeeze Mode
Normally, a video screen splitter cuts away a portion of each picture in order to make room on the screen or monitor for the corresponding portion of the other picture. For instance, if set for a 50%/50% split display, only 50% of each picture will be visible. Therefore, special attention should be taken in aiming the cameras at their subjects.

The Model 618 Series provides a unique "anamorphic" mode that squeezes two full pictures to fit, in their entirety, side-by-side, on your display in a 50%/50% split. This optional squeezing causes subjects to look "tall and skinny".
Given Input A
and Input B
Right/Left Squeeze Mode squeezes both images instead of cropping to fit
(50-50 Vertical Split only)

Mix Mode
The 618 Series Mix mode provides a double exposure effect by adding two video signals or images together.

The front panel control knob can be used to fade from one input to the other or to add the two sources together to varying degree.
Given Input A
and Input B
Output
Mix Ratio is adjustable

Subtract Mode
Subtract or Compare mode allows you to subtract or compare two video images. The unit performs a video image comparison by subtracting the image stored in its memory from the active picture at its input or subtracting one live picture from another live picture. Comparison (subtraction) of two live video streams is also possible. This mode is very useful for inspection, registration, interferometry, quality control, surveillance and other applications where an easily viewed comparison of two video images can be used for decision making or process control.

The Subtract or Compare mode has two selectable output modes. One provides the difference plus 0.5. The other provides the absolute value of the difference. Additionally, a button is provided to invert the output thereby showing the reference minus the input instead of the input minus the reference. A "Difference Threshold" control allows adjustment of the unit's sensitivity to differences.

An additional operational mode allows subtraction of each video frame from the previous frame to provide "frog's eye" capability, displaying only motion in the scene being monitored by the input video camera.

Applications

Surveillance
Images from two security cameras can be combined onto one video screen, making it easier for personnel to monitor both camera locations
Legal, Courtroom
Video tapes, conferences, and courtroom proceedings can use the Model 613 Series to show two parties on one screen or monitor
Forensics Image Comparison
The Model 613 series can be used to present a reference image side-by-side with an image under examination, making image comparison and analysis easier
Edge Comparison and Alignment for Large Objects
Opposite side or ends of large items can be closely viewed simultaneously, side-by-side or top to bottom, with two carefully aligned cameras connected to a single monitor or screen
